Most rappers today focus on rhymes instead of the message songs should carry, some also engage in comic rap, meaning raps that don’t have any message, are made for listeners to laugh. We have so many of such rappers in Ghana and usually their reason is, good raps with message don’t sell so they prefer to just play around with words to commercial beats. Let’s take a look at some Ghanaian rappers who, all they do is say words that rhymes but makes no sense or has no message for their listeners.
KWAW KESE
There is no Kwaw Kese rap make sense, sometimes he actually make words up to rhyme — very terrible!
OPANKA
Since he started from freestyles, it’s no doubt he will know how to put words together, but when it comes to sense, expect nothing.
YAA PONO
Just listen to his AMEN song, absolutely no sense in his raps and he’s been doing that for years
REGGIE ROCKSTONE
Even though he is the founder of Hiplife, we never actually got what Reggie Rockstone preached in his big songs. Maybe we need to re-listen to them again.
POPE SKINNY
He has been rapping for years but still we know not what he talks about.
CAPTAIN PLANET
Only thing he’s good at is mentioning names of females … Sigh!
GURU
Guru is a hit maker, very talented and king of rhymes and terminologies in Ghana music but he play too much … his usual incantation can never be spelt.
DEE MONEEY
Another vague rapper who constantly rap about things he’s never done, seen or might never get SMH
KECHE
The rapper in Keche duo could pass as one of the worst rappers in Ghana, thank God to sick beats he is mostly overlooked.
SARKODIE
People’s favorite rapper Sarkodie, no doubt he is a fast rapper, raps with confidence but Sarkodie’s entire rap is mostly based on rhymes and punchlines. The rest is to make people laugh.
Big ups to the GH rappers (English rappers), some of them speak real stuff but because of their too much English and slurr it’s hard for people to get them and then again, their songs are not commercial so no one actually cares about them. Also, people tend to listen to rap music for various reasons — “Obiaa ne ne taste”
