Before the main event started around 10:30 pm, Jay Foley who knew patrons at the venue were angry at the late start of the show requested for some popular Ghanaian songs to be played to entertain the peeved audience but Amin on several occasions played different tracks from what were requested.
What got many angry was when Shatta Wale’s “Dancehall Commando” was played whilst Jay Foley who was behind stage made it known that Sarkodie’s latest single “Megye Wo Girl” which features Shatta Wale was the official song for the night hence it should be played. For the benefit of the doubt, Jay Foley thought Amin did not hear him well so he repeated his statement but the DJ continued to play his personal official song for the night “Dancehall Commando”.
Not only did this happen once, Bola Ray during his showmanship on stage also requested for VVIP’s “Selfie” only to hear a different track being played. Gosh, that was irritating. Was it that he did not have those requested songs or he was under pressure? Well maybe he has other reasons we might not be aware of but that is our back case because we were expecting him to live up to expectation
Aside making those mishaps on the night of the event, his mixes and choice of songs put some people off. We cannot tell why organisers of the awards chose him over the many DJs we have in Ghana to be behind their turntables but we can confidently say he was a wrong DJ for the Night.
